Well, concerning the track “Buzz” supposedly by David Carretta (Gigolo records, 1999) and included to your playlist, you can read this:
the track originally entitled “Berlin” was dutifully plundered. It was originally a number released by French electro-combo BUZZ on the French indie label Dancetaria wayback in 1988 !!! Whoever does not believe this piece of info can always check it on the excellent site devoted to synthpop and early electro pioneers and mavericks from Norther France: nordwaves.info/musique/accueil.php… so much for credibility Davey boy, here is a chip on your shoulder. Selecting BUZZ for a cover was dead sharp, I reckon, but cashing in without asking for permission from the original composer — i. e. yours truly — is dead undone boyo… I found out the Carretta lad was on DJHell’s Gigolo records when he pricked up his little ears (no pun intended) to reproduce every single note, bass line and lyric from “Berlin” !!! Unfortunately, David dropped off the second chorus “Petite juive, boucle brune et simili-cuir” probably because the original perspective of the song — that is to say the song’s denouncing of the appaling re-emergence of nazi groupuscules in post-holocaust and pre-reunited Germany was too big for his boots even ten years later in 1999 ( or was it the “Don’t mention the war” syndrome, as Basil Fawlty would have it)… Hope we’ll meet up soon to discuss the matter and set things right though, well my lawyer will in any case ! BUZZ is still active with a new record in the bin that should include at least one remix by James Hardway and retrospective info can be found on nordwaves.info/musique/accueil.php… see you Sioux !

Don’t you worry ! David Carretta is being sued by BUZZ these days after a very late (7 years, no less !) apologetic e-mail to the BUZZ office admitting the facts… On the other hand, the recently completed James Hardway remixes are killer tracks… so will be the additional remixes by Gary Asquith — formerly of Rema Rema and The Renegade Soundwave, now one half of The Lavender Pill Mob, while Kevin Mooney (of Wide Boy Awake, Jah Wobble’s Invaders, Max, and Sinead O’Connor fame) supplies the other. You’ve been warned !
    See you Sioux !

    Hey there !
things have evolved since that second mail. An agreement has been settled between BUZZ and David Carretta. The latter will pay back the due royalties to the French band’s composer and remix one or two of their tracks. In the meantime BUZZ has been remixed by — among others — Bertrand Siffert (of the Young Gods), David Harrow (aka James Hardway), Luc Van Acker, Laurent Bergman and Len from up-and-coming Belgian electro-demons Implant. So no bloodshed but a rather clever musical settlement after all. More info on http://www.nordwaves.info/musique/buzz/accueil.php

    New BUZZ album—“Les musiques nouvelles”—out !!!
The next one “Minimal & électronique” will follow suit and include—among others—a smashing minimal remix by David Carretta…

Here we are almost a year later… “Minimal & électronique” is out this week and includes a remix of the eponymous title-track by David Carretta as well as others by peopletheatre, Implant, Danny Briottet (formerly of Renegade Soundwave), Severin 24, Néolymb and Dirty Sweet Project… 19 tracks in all, total running time 72′52”, available via nordwaves.fr…
It all settled down nicely some time around September 2006 when David and I decided totalk things over and found out we liked the same stuff, from Nitzer Ebb to DAF and back and that his cover was rather some sort of homage…
BUZZ have since then stored another remix—due for release soon—by Millimetric while I’ve been asked to do some for Mach Fox (USA), Void Kampf (F), Implant (B) and Bak XIII (CH)… isn’t life simply splendid ?
Several new tracks, including David’s ultra-potent minimal mix can be heard on myspace.com/buzzbiz
    To be continued.
    See U Sioux.
